In Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, little known fantasy writer Ravyn Shaunessy is content to traipse about the boundless world of the imagination safe and cozied in her writing garret with her sweet, slightly mysterious muse-like cat and a little bit of chocolate.
But when a company interested in ancient mythologies buys out her publisher, she finds herself pushed into the outside world and partnered with a handsome, enigmatic new coworker, the French Canadian photographer Damien Le Sauvage. Together they must unravel mysteries from thousands of years ago, ones rooted in stories from cultures long lost to the march of modernity.
Others are watching, however, their intentions anything but friendly.
The first in a series, Wild Magic is an easy-paced story blending contemporary times, folklore and ancient history with a celebration of the beauty found in the woods and wilds all around us.

The story developed with a layering of intrigue that kept me turning pages. The whimsical humor was a surprise and appreciated. Thrilled to know it’s the first of a series. Highly recommend!

Newly arrived in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, single mom and nature photographer Natalie Reid has renounced romance for good. With excellent reason.
However, her best friend and wildlife rehabilitator Jade Daggett has a brother who, with his caring heart and deep knowledge of Ojibwe woodslore, makes him the perfect match for Natalie. At least to Jade’s way of thinking.
Then again there’s this certain roguish local fisherman Natalie keeps running into. He’s not only charming (at least in his own mind) and handsome in an (unfortunately) undeniable sort of way, but he’s also a great community mentor to the kids.
Natalie, though, finds it’s easy to remind herself of the many pitfalls romance brings. But when she has an enigmatic run-in with wolves on the shores of Lake Superior, the encounter there just might change her mind.
Although, really, on second thought...it probably won’t.
A Cranberry Falls novel, Stories the River Knows brings readers into the small U.P. community of Cranberry Falls and the surrounding landscape to which it belongs. It’s a story about love...of family, of the land, and of a romance that everyone - with the notable exception of the couple in question - thinks was meant to be.
